Abstract
Obturator hernia is a very rare surgical condition. It usually presents as mechanical obstruction. Firstly, correct diagnosis is important because delayed diagnosis and treatment leads to bowel strangulation. Operation methods for obturator hernia are varied. Among these, laparoscopic repair using totally extraperitoneal approach (TEP) is very rare in Korea. We reported a case of TEP repair for obturator hernia with self-reducted, incarcerated herniation. An 80 year old underweight woman was diagnosed with incarcerated obturator hernia by computed tomography. However, while preparing for emergency operation, abdominal pain disappeared abruptly because of self- reduction. So, we operated using TEP, electively.
